ABOUT US
Why Tarantula?
Every fall around late September, male tarantulas begin a so-called “migration” throughout Southeast Colorado. They’re looking for a mate, but they don’t even undertake this journey until they are 3+ years of age. For a couple of weeks, you see them everywhere on county roads, highways, and trails.
When time came to name the bike shop, we wanted something that represented both ourselves and the region. Tarantulas seemed perfect. Not only is it a cool name that lends itself to a rad logo, but tarantulas are creatures of the dirt — and we love dirt-focused riding. While we think our fuzzy friends are cute and harmless, we recognize they might be scary to some people. We hope you can put that aside to come by and talk about (or better yet, ride) bicycles.
What We’re All About
Tarantula Cycles is a traditional bicycle retailer and repair shop, but we hope to be more approachable than your stereotypical bike wrench. We just want more people to ride, period. Whatever bike you have, whatever your fitness level or riding style or body type or skin color, we hope you love the feeling of cruising on self-powered transportation as much as we do.
Tarantula sells bikes and gear from Giant, Surly, Salsa, Soma, and many other brands. We have a full menu of bicycle repair services and we stock a variety of accessories. If we don’t have it on the shelf, we’re happy to place an order for you. Stop by to ride or just hangout!

Always has some tunes playing. Legitimately enjoys single speed riding. Geeks out over nature. If he’s not at the shop, he’s probably hanging with his wife and dogs.
