Trinidad Gravel Quickie
If you’re short on time or just aren’t in the mood for an epic ride, this quick gravel jaunt will get you a nice climb with great views of Fishers Peak as well as the city and mountains to the west, plus a bonus visit to a ghost town.
Head east on Main St and turn right on Capitol Hill St, which quickly veers south as it becomes Fairview Ave. Turn left on Charlotte then a quick left on Pennsylvania. As you near the hospital, look out for gravel goodness on your right (CR 73.1). Follow this south and curve back to the north as it becomes CR 73.3. You will emerge at CR 24.6 and ride just a short distance before turning right on CR 73.4. Hang tight for a decently long climb through the woods.
At the top, turn left to head up to the Engleville ghost town and cemetery, then head back the way you came. When you return to the fork, stay left on Engleville Rd which will turn into Obregon St. This is a ripping descent so be cautious! Once back in town, turn right on Oak Street and stay left on Oak to get back to the depot.
